How long does it take to work and how long does it last?
Results are immediate! It is important to understand that your lips will be swollen after the procedure, and the degree of swelling is variable from person to person. Because you cannot predict how much swelling there will be until you have had them injected, it is recommended not to have lip filler done if you have an important event a few days post treatment.
The longevity of lip filler is variable as factors unique to the individual can affect how quickly the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid. Generally, results can last between 6 to 8 months.
Will it hurt?
The procedure feels like little pinches on the lips, and there may be a stinging sensation as the product is being injected. At Lakeside, we take different measures to assure the procedure is as comfortable as possible for our patients. We use fillers that have lidocaine, a numbing agent, in them. We also apply a topical anesthetic cream on the lips prior to injection. To further minimize discomfort, a distraction device is also used during the procedure.
What is the recovery time after treatment?
There is little to no downtime. Generally you can return to daily routine immediately after treatment, but strenuous activities should be avoided for 24 hours post-treatment. It is not uncommon to develop swelling, bruising, and firmness following filler injection. This may last for up to 1-2 weeks.
